Two SEC Foremen Selected as Quanta Elite

Two of Southern Electric Corporation’s top foremen, Robert Wilkinson and Kevin Johnson, have been selected for Quanta Services’ Quanta Elite Program. This program identifies the top foremen across all Operating Units for Quanta based on leadership abilities, team building skills, and performance.

Wilkinson is a Florence, Mississippi, native working out of Jackson. He started with SEC early on in his career, spending 9 out of his 10 years in the powerline industry with us. “Robert’s dedication to ensuring the well-being of his colleagues and the organization’s assets has consistently set him apart,” says Blake Everett, SEC’s Vice President of Operations. “He consistently goes above and beyond to implement and promote safety rules and procedures, and his loyalty is evident in his long-standing tenure with the company, where he has consistently demonstrated a strong work ethic and a willingness to contribute to the team’s success.”

Wilkinson says his favorite part of his job is the camaraderie with the guys. Some advice to those just starting out in the industry? “Quit trying to get to the top faster than you should,” he says. Wilkinson and his wife have a 22-year-old daughter and an 11-year-old son and love traveling and hunting when not hard at work.

Johnson is a Roanoke, Alabama, native working out of Oneonta, just north of Birmingham. He got his start in the industry 8 years ago here at SEC as a groundman, and has worked his way up from there through the apprenticeship program until making journeyman and then foreman. “Kevin is the epitome of what it takes to succeed in this industry, literally building his career here from the ground up,” says Jason Siegfried, SEC’s Vice President of Operations. “He consistently holds the members of his crew accountable to do every job the right way while supporting their needs and developing those under his leadership.”

“I love being able to teach people about the industry along with learning something new every day,” Johnson says. He and his wife have two sons, 12 and 7, who enjoy spending time outdoors hunting as much as possible.

To kick things off, honorees will attend a two-day event at Quanta’s state-of-the-art training facility, Lazy Q Ranch, in La Grange, Texas. While there they will connect with other Quanta Elite foremen and learn more about what is in store for them as they work toward honing their leadership skills and developing those under them, in hopes of fostering the next generation of Quanta Elite.

Congratulations Robert and Kevin on this very distinguished honor and for setting the bar high and representing SEC so well!
