Stringer Named SEC’s Power Player for December

Southern Electric Corporation has named Penny Stringer, administrative assistant, as its Power Player award recipient for the month of December. A Power Player is someone with integrity and high moral standards, possessing strong leadership qualities, a track record of safe production, and dedication to our company and industry, who is hard-working and represents SEC well in everything that they do, allowing SEC to Power Forward.

Stringer has been with SEC for nine years, hired as a receptionist in 2015 after her daughter Cassi started working for SEC. She now handles all credit card management and reconciliations for the company. “Penny is able to communicate with employees on a personal level,” says Joann Sprayberry, SEC office manager. “She goes above and beyond to be successful at whatever she does. Her dedication to her job and SEC is invaluable.”

Stringer says the best part of her job is interacting with the guys in the field. “I truly look forward to going to work every day,” she says. “I love my job and the people I work with.” Her least favorite part? “Having to nag everyone about turning in receipts,” she says.

Stringer, born and raised in Jackson, MS, received her nursing degree from Mississippi University for Women and worked as a registered nurse for 25 years. She left nursing in 2010 but says she still gets plenty of practice taking care of her 83-year-old mother.

Stringer lives in Terry and enjoys reading and keeping up with the news and politics when not hounding employees about credit card receipts.
