SEC Names Sprayberry Power Player for May

Southern Electric Corporation has named Joann Sprayberry, of Carthage, MS, as its Power Player for the month of May. A Power Player is someone with integrity and high moral standards, possessing strong leadership qualities, a track record of safe production, and dedication to our company and industry, who is hard-working and represents SEC well in everything that they do, allowing SEC to Power Forward.

Sprayberry has been with SEC for 25 years, serving as the company’s office manager for the last 16 of those. Sprayberry was hired as an accounts receivable clerk, then quickly took over payroll before moving to human resources. “SEC is very special to me… it’s family,” says Sprayberry. “You spend more time with your work family than you do with your real family. We’ve formed a bond here.”

Sprayberry says the best part of her job is the people. “I love helping the guys in the field and being able to help with issues that arise,” she adds. “It’s great meeting employees you’ve talked to for so long and putting a face with a name.” The worst part? “Losing employees. That’s always got me,” says Sprayberry.

“Joann is the glue that holds SEC together,” says Chief Operating Officer Gary Blakeney. “She is always the bright spot even when things get challenging.”

Sprayberry and her husband, Skip, have lived in Carthage for 30 years. They have 3 children and 3 grandchildren. When she’s not holding SEC together, Sprayberry enjoys traveling (the Smoky Mountains are her favorite), watching MSU play, cooking, going to plays, and spending time with her family.
