SEC Names New Power Player for March

Southern Electric Corporation has named Chandler New, of Woodland, Alabama, as its Power Player for the month of March. A Power Player is someone with integrity and high moral standards, possessing strong leadership qualities, a track record of safe production, and dedication to our company and industry, who is hard-working and represents SEC well in everything that they do, allowing SEC to Power Forward.

New, a journeyman lineman in Alabama, began his career six and a half years ago and joined SEC shortly thereafter. No stranger to the industry, New grew up with a father in line work. “I knew it was a promising career because of my dad,” says New. “And SEC has a good reputation for treating their employees fairly and maintaining a safe work environment.”

“Chandler joined SEC as a green ground hand and has turned into a very good lineman, eager to train new apprentices, taking the time to show them how to do things the right way,” says Jim Carter, Superintendent for SEC’s Alabama and Florida operations. “Chandler has a bright future ahead of him.”

New says the best part of his job is traveling and making a difference when storms hit. The most challenging part? “No job is the same,” he says. “Every jobsite holds something different.” As to what keeps New at SEC, he says “my crew and opportunities to further my career in this industry.”

New lives in Cusseta, Alabama, and enjoys hunting and fishing in his free time.
