SEC Names Justin Tanner Director of Human & Organizational Potential
Southern Electric Corporation (SEC), a Quanta Services Company, is pleased to announce the appointment of Justin Tanner as Director of Human & Organizational Potential, a leadership role focused on employee development, leadership growth, workforce engagement, and advancing the company’s commitment to safety and operational excellence.
Tanner brings more than 21 years of experience in the electric utility and line construction industry. Throughout his career, he has served as an apprentice lineman, journeyman lineman/troubleshooter, foreman, senior safety specialist, and leadership professional. His experience spans overhead and underground distribution systems, switching operations, workforce development, safety leadership, training, and storm restoration.
Most recently, Tanner spent nearly 12 years with Mississippi Power, where he served in both field and leadership positions, including Senior Safety Specialist. Prior to that, he worked as a Foreman with Southern Electric Corporation, making this appointment a meaningful return to the SEC family.
In his new role, Tanner will lead initiatives that strengthen employee development, leadership training, and workforce engagement while supporting SEC’s mission of preventing life-threatening, life-altering, and life-ending events. His combination of field experience, operational knowledge, and passion for developing people will help further the company’s culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
“Justin understands our industry from the ground up,” said Blake Everett, President of Southern Electric Corporation. “He has built his career in the field, led teams through complex challenges, and demonstrated a genuine commitment to developing people. We’re excited to welcome him back to SEC and are confident his leadership will have a lasting impact on our employees, our culture, and our future.”
Tanner is a U.S. Army combat veteran who served in Afghanistan as a Combat Engineer and Non-Commissioned Officer. He and his wife, Vanessa, have three children. When time allows, Tanner enjoys hunting, bodybuilding, and living out his Christian faith, which he says serves as the foundation of his personal life and leadership philosophy.
