Pope Named SEC’s Power Player for February
Southern Electric Corporation has named Daniel Pope, of Lena, Mississippi, as its Power Player for the month of February. A Power Player is someone with integrity and high moral standards, possessing strong leadership qualities, a track record of safe production, and dedication to our company and industry, who is hard-working and represents SEC well in everything that they do, allowing SEC to Power Forward.
Pope is a crew foreman in SEC’s underground distribution division, working primarily in Mississippi. First joining SEC in 2007 upon the urging of a family friend who loved his job, he worked on a crew for four years before leaving for a short stint in the oil field. Pope returned to SEC in 2015 and worked his way up to foreman in a few short years. Pope now calls SEC home. “Building powerlines is all I know,” said Pope.
“I have worked around Daniel since his first day on the job,” says Ryan Randall, Underground Division Superintendent. “He’s always been a hard worker and quick to learn his trade. And he has a great relationship with his crew as well as his customers.”
Pope says the best part of his job is getting to work with great people. “I enjoy coaching and learning something new every day,” he adds. Pope says his least favorite part is having to leave his family to work out of town and working in the mud.
Pope and his wife Vikki have been married 15 years and have 3 children, 14- and 12-year-old boys and an 8-year-old girl. In his free time, he loves to cook, spend time with his family, and hunt and fish.
