SEC Names James Gaither Power Player for November
Southern Electric Corporation has named James “Jimmy” Gaither, of Beauregard, Alabama, as its Power Player for the month of November. A Power Player is someone with integrity and high moral standards, possessing strong leadership qualities, a track record of safe production, and dedication to our company and industry, who is hard-working and represents SEC well in everything that they do, allowing SEC to Power Forward.
Jimmy is a crew foreman in SEC’s overhead distribution division in Alabama. Working in the powerline construction industry more than 15 years, he joined SEC in 2021. “I started line work back in the late 90’s but ended up quitting and joining the military for 15 years,” said Gaither. “After getting injured in Iraq, I went back to line work. I came to work for SEC after talking with guys I knew that enjoyed working here.”
Jimmy says the best part of his job is training new talent. He says his least favorite part is working in inclement weather. “But it’s really not that bad,” he adds.
“Jimmy served our country for 15 years in the Army and did 3 tours overseas. He returned to linework with strong leadership skills plus many more invaluable qualities that make him a key player on our team,” says Superintendent Jim Carter. “Jimmy is very knowledgeable and highly adaptive and is well respected by all his coworkers.”
Jimmy and his wife, Nicole, an Auburn University employee, have two grown sons. In his free time, he loves to hunt, fish and play golf.
