John Patterson Named SEC’s Power Player for September
Southern Electric Corporation has named John Patterson, haul truck driver, as its Power Player for the month of September. A Power Player is someone with integrity and high moral standards, possessing strong leadership qualities, a track record of safe production, and dedication to our company and industry, who is hard-working and represents SEC well in everything that they do, allowing SEC to Power Forward.
John hired on with SEC 8 years ago doing contract hauling work, transitioning to a full time SEC truck driver after about 5 years. He now has 35 years of experience in the trucking industry and is on the road for SEC 5-7 days per week, hauling specialty equipment all over the company’s footprint. “John is always ready and willing to do the job, no matter what or where it is,” says Dillon Roberts, Vice President of Fleet Operations. “He’s committed to SEC’s success, on and off the road.”
John says the best part of his job is traveling and staying busy. “I love to be on the road, visiting places that I might never have been able to see,” says Patterson. “I also love being able to help people as much as I can” he adds. “I get it from my dad – it’s the way I was raised, to help when there’s a need.” He adds the least favorite part of his job is downtime. “I like to stay busy and on-the-go, so I don’t like to sit still much. Especially in traffic.”
John and his wife, Paula, live in Florence, MS, and have been married 41 years. They have 3 grown children and 2 brand new grandchildren. When not on the road hauling for SEC, John loves to hunt and fish. He jokes, “When it’s my time to go, I hope to be sitting in a deer stand!”
