SEC’s Keith Kinchen Named Power Player for July
Southern Electric Corporation has named Keith Kinchen, of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, as its Power Player for the month of July. A Power Player is someone with integrity and high moral standards, possessing strong leadership qualities, a track record of safe production, and dedication to our company and industry, who is hard-working and represents SEC well in everything that they do, allowing SEC to Power Forward.
Keith serves as SEC’s Director of Human and Organizational Potential and just celebrated his 10-year anniversary with the company and 41 years in the industry. He started his career at Entergy in the substation division before moving up the ranks into management.
Keith says the best part of his job is knowing he is making a difference and reducing human suffering, which he feels is his calling in life. When asked his least favorite part, Keith says “the feeling of dread each time the phone rings knowing it could be ‘that’ phone call saying someone is hurt or worse.”
“Keith has been an extremely hard working and loyal member of the SEC Family for over ten years focusing on the mission – preventing STKY Actuals. His caring for each member of the SEC family is matched only by his passion for safe, quality production,” says Donovan Guilbeau, Vice President of Human and Organizational Potential. “He is a true man of God and sets a high example for all to follow, and I am honored to work side by side with him every day,” Donovan adds.
Keith says what keeps him at SEC is two-fold. “First, I am certain God sent me here – our Monday morning company-wide prayer call reinforces that every week – and you can’t run from your calling. Secondly, I know I’m not done.”
Keith speaks openly about his strong faith in God and says he contemplated getting ordained but never saw it through. He says, however, “I firmly believe my safety role is a ministry and my congregation is the people I work with.”
Keith and his wife Racheal have been married 38 years. They have 3 grown kids, all of which graduated as high school valedictorians and have obtained college master’s degrees. He says his family is his life, and he greatly enjoys traveling and watching his boys make music. “I pinch myself because I can’t believe life has been so good to me.”
