SEC Names Fancher Power Player for June

Southern Electric Corporation has named Alan Fancher, of Wesson, MS, as its Power Player for the month of June. A Power Player is someone with integrity and high moral standards, possessing strong leadership qualities, a track record of safe production, and dedication to our company and industry, who is hard-working and represents SEC well in everything that they do, allowing SEC to Power Forward.

Fancher, a field mechanic, has been with SEC for nearly 12 years and worked as a mechanic for 43 years. He got his start at 15 years old working at his uncle’s shop in Louisiana, eventually moving back to Mississippi after serving 6 years in the Louisiana National Guard. Fancher is a certified aerial hydraulic technician, specializing in equipment such as booms and digger derricks. With his extensive knowledge, Fancher has served in various capacities at SEC, working as a floating mechanic across the company’s footprint wherever needed, as a trainer to his counterparts in the field, as an inspector and purchaser of equipment, and now stationed in Mississippi working mostly on the Transmission side of the company.

“Alan is a vital part of our team and is definitely deserving of this recognition,” says Dillon Roberts, Vice President of Fleet Operations. “His knowledge and experience in the field along with his work ethic makes him irreplaceable. He never stops – always thinking, always working.”

Fancher says the best part of his job is “being able to work outside and travel around the country.” After thinking a while, he decided the worst part was also working outside in the elements. “Working in the heat is tough. And when a unit breaks down in a swamp or mudhole, that’s no fun,” he laughs.

Fancher and his wife have 3 children, Chelcea, Faith and Payton. When not keeping SEC’s equipment running smoothly, you can find Fancher in the woods or on a lake hunting and fishing.
