Southern Electric Corporation has named Ashley Brown, the company’s Payroll Manager, as its Power
Player recipient for the month of December. A Power Player is someone with integrity and high moral
standards, possessing strong leadership qualities, a track record of safe production, and dedication to
our company and industry, who is hard-working and represents SEC well in everything that they do,
allowing SEC to Power Forward.
Brown has been with SEC for more than 12 years, hired as a payroll assistant in 2011 by her supervisor
and mentor Joann Sprayberry. “Mrs. Joann took a chance on me and taught me everything I know as far
as payroll,” Brown says. “SEC is lucky to have her and I’m extra lucky to have her as my friend and
mentor.”
Brown says the best part of her job is talking to the guys in the field, problem-solving and trying to make
their jobs easier. The worst part? “Deadlines!” she says matter-of-factly. “Especially around holidays.”
“Ashley has the qualities it takes to be a great payroll manager… accuracy, a strong work ethic and
unwavering dedication to her job,” says Sprayberry, Office Manager for SEC.
“I love my job and SEC. It really is like family here,” beams Brown. “I love getting to know the guys in the
field and being able to put a face to all the names I talk to on the phone so much.”
Brown and her husband, Brian, have been married 13 years. They live in Brandon, MS with their 3
daughters Harper (10), Averi (8), and Carsen (7). Brown loves spending time with her family, watching
her girls in gymnastics, dining out, and traveling. “And one last thing,” she adds. “ROLL TIDE!”
